"When I was diagnosed with cancer the fear of losing my hair was about so much more than vanity"
Kelsey was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer at just 32 years old. As a driven, young mother of two, Kelsey felt as though losing her hair took away her right to decide who knew that she was sick. She wanted to be able to go to the yoga studio, feeling like herself - not battling a with a wig or the sympathetic glances from strangers. Learn more about Kelsey's experience with Polar Cold Caps in this Ted Talk.

On chemo days, you rotate through five different caps keeping your scalp at -38 degrees celsius. This freezes there hair follicle and reduces the amount of chemo drugs absorbed by the hair follicle. Caps are changed every 25-30 mins and are worn for 1 hour prior to chemo, during the entire infusion, and then after for between 3 and 5 hours (depending on the type of chemo).
HAIR CARE
Do not colour, cut, or chemically treat your hair for 3 weeks before chemo. For best results, wait for 3 months after chemo before returning to your normal haircare routine.
Wash your hair 3 days before chemo & not again until 3 days after chemo.
- Use cool water & low pressure shower head or a cup for rinsing
- Use a wide-tooth comb; start at the bottom and hold the root while combing
- Sleep with a satin or silk pillow case to reduce pulling at night
- Do not blow dry, straighten, or curl your hair
- Be as gentle as you possibly can!

I have been extremely happy to have been able to keep my hair which helped me feel a little more in control and certainly helped with getting through some important events during the holiday season. I now have the next phase of my journey to complete and will be able to do it with my hair.

Cathy
I want to thank you for assisting me in keeping my hair during chemotherapy. I have completed 7 of 12 sessions and have lost very little hair. Praise God! I do believe bald can be beautiful but it’s so awesome to keep my hair. Having my hair allows me to adjust to this life changing event without shouting to the world my condition. Everyone tells me I’m glowing and how wonderful I look. Words cannot express my gratitude for a great product. I will keep you posted on my progress.
Many blessing to you.

Melissa
So far, the caps have worked great! I’ve lost some hair, but the majority is still there, and no one but me can tell it’s thinned. I’m hoping that continues throughout the last treatment. Thank you so much for your fantastic product!

Betsy
Dear Everyone at Polar Cold Caps,
Happily, and with hair on my head, I am returning the caps. They served my purpose beautifully and I am very grateful.
Thank you so so so much,

Sajojo
It’s true, on my 5th dose of an intense chemo-my hair has thinned but still have about 80%. 1 more dose!

Christen
I must say, I have been so pleased with the results! I have managed to keep almost all of my hair…to outsiders, it looks like I have all my hair!

Amy
I cannot thank you all enough for giving me a bit of control, in a time in my life when all control has been taken. After 9 treatments I still have a full head of hair! Thank you Polar Cold Caps!!
